Sanctify, sinonimo di Wembley

Tante volte abbiamo scritto di quanto i Delirious? siano sconosciuti al grande pubblico, a causa del loro orientamento cristiano, pagato a caro prezzo sulle (non) messe in onda radiofoniche. Ma non tutto il mondo è paese. Negli Stati Uniti, per esempio, i Delirious? hanno comunque venduto più dischi di Robbie Williams. Insomma, "signori nessuno" non sono, malgrado in Italia e in Europa li si conoscano solo in ambienti strettamente cristiano-protestanti.

Per qual motivo questo preambolo? Molto semplicemente, per introdurre Sanctify, canzone che da oramai quindici anni è fra le più simboliche dei Delirious?. Una presa di coscienza verso Dio, nonché, musicalmente, una vera perla pop.

Sanctify, registrata durante le sessioni in studio di King of Fools, venne storicamente immortalata dal vivo a luglio 1997 nel Wembley Stadium di Londra, gremito in ogni ordine di posto per il meeting cristiano Champions of the world. Immagini da brivido!
